Abstract
A first report is given of a high-temperature in-situ study of the oxygen activity dependence of the optical absorption of transition metal oxides. Results are reported for NiO and the spinel CoAl2O4 and are discussed in the context of the point defect structure of these compounds. Possible applications to the study of the kinetics of heterogeneous gas-solid redox-reactions are indicated. Keywords
