Abstract
The theory given in an earlier paper (Craig & Dissado 1971) for excited states of a thin molecular crystal is extended. The more general treatment applies to crystals with two molecules per cell, and includes the mixing of free molecule states by crystal interactions. A mechanism is described to account for absorption. Model calculations are made for absorption and emission by a thin disk of crystalline anthracene in the frequency range of the first electronic band system. Keywords
