Abstract
A new coincidence technique has been used to study the polarization of radiation from atoms excited by electron impact. The measured polarizations are as predicted theoretically, in contrast with results obtained by the older 'threshold polarization' technique. The present coincidence technique can be extended to study details of excitation mechanisms. Keywords
