Abstract
The 0–0 band of the a1Δ–X3Σ transition of NF has been observed in the afterglow which results when NF3 and Ar are passed through a microwave discharge. The spectrum found in the region of 8 742 Å has been photographed on a 6-m concave-grating spectrograph. Analysis of the spectrum gives the rotational constants B0 = 1.222 5 cm−1 and r0 = 1.308 2 A for the a1Δ state and an improved value of A = 1.215 cm−1 for the ground state.
