Abstract
In this paper it is shown how principles which are fundamental to external aerodynamics have been applied to study the internal aerodynamics of turbo-machines. Mention is made of aerofoil cascade, radial equilibrium, and actuator disc theories. Results are also presented of a number of supporting experimental investigations. Keywords
