Abstract
It is shown that, if mechanical twinning and deformation faulting on the {112}111〉 orientation of the rolling texture component are prevented or nullified, such as by cross rolling, the resulting deformation texture is essentially the same for both high-SFE (stacking-fault energy) and low-SFE metals. These observations are consistent with the mechanical twinning mechanism for rolling texture transition from the copper-type to the brass-type as proposed by Wassermann. Keywords
