Applicability of cetrimide, nitrofurantoin, TTC, and sodium arsenite to the isolation of marine pseudomonads

Abstract
The ability of cetrimide, nitrofurantoin, TTC, and sodium arsenite to select for marine pseudomonads and eliminate non-pseudomonads was examined. All four reagents were able to do this at suitable concentrations, but 0.03% cetrimide was superior in permitting good growth of the test pseudomonads in the shortest average period of time at 20C. In completely eliminating test non-pseudomonads, only half of the pseudomonads examined could be recovered.
