Abstract
The results of a programmed follow-up study of patients with carcinoma of the colon and rectum were disappointing. This is also true for those patients who underwent resection with the intention of cure. This is because of the discouraging results of treatment of recurrent lesions. Chemotherapy or roentgen radiation was not regularly used. The mean survival time was probably prolonged in some single instances. Only 3 out of 36 are still alive. A follow-up study of this magnitude was too extensive when the poor outcome is considered. A follow-up study of patients who were operated on for carcinoma of the colon and rectum is necessary but in a simpler form. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
