Abstract
The effect of ozone on some pollutants (surfactants, oil and grease and Benz(a)Pyrene) (B(a)P) has been evaluated under the same conditions encountered in sewage. The removal of surfactants, oil and grease and COD varied between 66, 7–90, 4%, 46, 2–91, 6% and 37, 5–61, 5 respectively as a function of ozone amount supplied. B(a)P removal was very high (87,4) even at the lowest ozone dosage and was complete at higher ozonization conditions. The effect on the some pollutants of a combined continous treatment consisting of sedimentation, ozonization and GAC adsorption was also evaluated. A reduction of about 90% was obtained both for surfactants and oils and greases and of about 70% for COD. Complete removal of B(a)P was reached in this last process. This publication has 10 references indexed in Scilit:
