Abstract
A study of the readability of ten booklets concerning recovery from coronary heart disease was undertaken. The booklets ranged from standard to difficult to read with none of the booklets classed in the fairly easy to read category. Layout and typography did not facilitate patient understanding. For these reasons, it is concluded that educational materials devised for patients may fail to meet their objectives. Keywords
