Abstract

The mesitylgold(I) complex, (AuMes)₅(Mes = 2,4,6-Me₃C₆H₂), which has a five pointed star shape, was synthesized by the reaction of AuCOCl with a tetrahydrofuran solution of MesMgBr: the Au–C bond distances range from 2.12(2) to 2.20(2)Å.
