Abstract
Pentacyclic chromium complexes are produced from the bisazo dyestuffs 1,2‐(resp. 3)‐(2‐amino‐benzenesulfonamido)‐ethane (resp. propane) → β‐naphtol. It is concluded from their absorption spectra that their steric arrangement corresponds to a «1:2‐sandwich complex» linked internally, preference being given to one of the possible coordination arrangements. Because of the great similarity of their spectra to that of a previously described «1:2‐chromium‐sandwich complex» from anthranilic acid → β‐naphthol, it is concluded that they are arranged in the same way as the latter.
