Abstract
The internal age distribution of a fluid, for p imperfectly mixed vessels in series, is presented and interpreted in the light of the laws of probabilities. An expression is presented for the residence time distribution. Five graphs show the variation of this expression as a function of the reduced effective time, each graph being characterized by a given degree of channeling. The curves, similar to those for the dispersion model, indicate that the model can represent mixing conditions extending all the way from an imperfectly mixed reservoir to plug flow.An expression is also presented for the mean residence time. Keywords
