Abstract
The problems of wave propagation on a cylindrical electron beam in vacuum and in a plasma background are examined in an exact treatment, i.e., from Maxwell's equations, including relativistic effects. It is shown that certain ambiguous features of the more usual nonrelativistic quasistatic analysis are thereby resolved.Keywords
