Diagnostic and operative arthroscopy of the thumb metacarpophalangeal joint

Abstract
Arthroscopy of the knee and shoulder has become a commonly practiced procedure. The availability of spe cialized arthroscopic instruments (Fig. 1) now makes diagnostic and operative arthroscopies of the smaller joints of the body possible. This is a case where arthros copy of the thumb metacarpophalangeal joint facilitated the care and rehabilitation of a professional athlete.
