Abstract
Adrenalectomized mice maintained with pellets of desoxycorticosterone acetate show little response when injd. with adrenocorticotropic hormone but show a quantitative relationship between the avg. fall of the eosinophii level and the amt. of injd. 17-hydroxy-11-dehydrocorticosterone. From the urine of young adult men, eosinophii-reducing material equivalent to 25-80 [mu]g. of 17-hydroxy-11-dehydrocorticosterone/day was assayed. Treatment with small doses of adrenocorticotropic hormone or 17-hydroxy-11-dehydrocorticosterone produced a marked rise in the urinary excretion of eosinophil-reducing material.
