Abstract
The neuromuscular blocking property of several anti-histaminics was screened and its mechanism of action was studied using the rat phrenic-diaphragm preparation. Tripelennamine and thonzyl-amine possessed a neuromuscular blocking action. The characteristics of these blocking action are same as those of phase II of C10. Promethazine produced a similar effect on neuromuscular junction. The characteristics of the blocking action are same as that of phase I of C10. Diphenhydramine and chlorpheniramine caused depression on the responses to both direct and indirect stimuli. Pandryl-p showed the most potent neuromuscular blocking property. The characteristics of the blocking action are now under investigation. Keywords
