Abstract
The small size of the chromosomes makes accurate counting difficult. Protoscolices were cultured in 10% beef embryo extract in hydatid fluid followed by colchicine treatment to increase the number of somatic mitoses. Aceto-orcein staining after hypotonic treatment gave the best results. The chromosome number 18 diploid, the largest pair being just over 1 u in length. A reliable idiogram could not be derived but there appears to be one large open "U" in the haploid set of nine. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
