Regularly aligned mitochondria in aleurone and sub‐aleurone layers of developing rice caryopses

Abstract
Mitochondria were found to be aligned along the upper periclinal walls of aleurone and endosperm cells in developing rice caryopses. The significance of this distribution is discussed in relation to previous studies of solute transport in rice.
