Abstract
Fourteen bone scans were performed in 7 patients with neuroblastoma using 18F and 99mTc-PP. Four patients had extraosseous uptake of 18F, 2 in regions radiographically calcific, and 2 in noncalcified sites. Two of these patients showed no extraosseous uptake by 99mTc-PP. In a third, extraosseous uptake of 99mTc-PP was seen in multiple calcific locations. 18F, 99mTc-PP, radiographs, and bone marrow biopsies all vary in the ability to detect bony metastases. This should be kept in mind when interpreting bone scans obtained with the newer agents. Keywords
