Abstract
A study has been made of 190 cases of primary bronchogenic carcinoma verified solely by exfoliative cytology. The localization of the tumour was distinctly more often intermediary and the resectability of the tumour was higher than in the control material. The tumour could be removed by smaller resection, on the average, than in the comparative material. Exfoliative cytology seems to have advantages particularly when tumours of the upper lobe are concerned. The material includes 2 cytologically verified cases of pulmonary carcinoma in a very early, roentgenologically occult stage. Both patients could be successfully treated by surgery. Keywords
