Abstract
The approximation method presented in a previous paper is applied to a round bar with a circumferential notch under tensile load and to a thick-walled cylinder under internal pressure. By comparison with FE-results aspects of accuracy are discussed. Remarks to combined loading cases and to validity of an introduced lateral constraint assumption and Hencky’s equations close the paper.
