Abstract
Under suitable conditions, the activation of cerium exchanged X and Y zeolites in oxygen or nitrous oxide gives rise to the formation of anion radicals O– 2 and O– or dianions O2– 2 and O2–, and presumably also O– 3 on the zeolites. The superoxide anion radical O– 2 has been observed on lanthanum exchanged X and Y zeolites and adsorbed diamagnetic oxygen species on calcium and iron exchanged Y zeolites. The behaviour of the individual adsorbed oxygen species was studied on these zeolites. Keywords
