Abstract
Four young goats were depancreatized. The fasting N excretion was low; the glucose and acetone body excretion was slight or absent. The results were compared with previous studies in other spp. and with phlorhizin diabetes in the pig and goat. Although the N excretion of the goat is identical in phlorhizin and pancreatic diabetes, the glycosuria of the 2 exptl. conditions differs widely. The increase in blood sugar after pancreatectomy combined with the low rate of gluconeogenesis is regarded as the most probable explanation of this situation. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
