Abstract
Sodium is retained in the basal parts of Phaseolus vulgaris whether roots of intact plants or stem bases of derooted plants are in contact with a labeled NaCl solution. With increasing external concentration Na distribution in the plant approaches uniformity. Na retention seems to be due to competition of root and stem tissue with Na transport to and in the stele. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
