Abstract
To the Editor: Adams et al., in the November 23, 1978, issue of the Journal, studied the rate of female-initiated sexual activities during the menstrual cycle and concluded that women who did not use contraceptive pills were strikingly active during the probable period of ovulation. Examining their data I find, to the contrary, that there were no unusual ovulatory peaks for female-initiated heterosexual activities, the only ones I reanalyzed.They determined ovulation by plotting frequency of mittelschmerz reports versus day in the menstrual cycle (their Figure 1).
