Abstract
Fifteen cases of thrombocytopenic purpura following rubella are presented including one fatal case. Two patients were adult men. The median interval between the onset of rash and the onset of purpura was four days. The course usually was self-limited. Corticosteroids occasionally produced an increase in platelet count but did not appear to shorten the duration of the disorder. The frequency of serious hemorrhage appeared to correlate with the degree of thrombocytopenia. The life-span of transfused platelets was measured in one patient and was very short. This publication has 7 references indexed in Scilit:
