Abstract
Details of morphology are reported for these 2 marine Cladophora spp. C. hutchinsiae produces quadriflagellate zoo-spores and biflagellate gametes. Biflagellate gametes are produced by C. flexuosa. C. hutchinsiae appears to be a diploid species (2n=24), with a life cycle showing isomorphic alternation of generations. C. flexuosa appears to be a haploid species (n=12). The 2 spp. differ from each other in the size of the nucleui, size of chomosomes, and also in dimensions of the swarmers, dimensions of the filaments, and the type of branching of the thallus. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
