Abstract
The title problem is examined for plane strain deformations of an ideal fibre-reinforced body which has a convex cross-section with an axis of symmetry either parallel or normal to the fibre axis. The solution to the problem is found to be easily obtained even for symmetric bodies of a general shape. This is in marked contrast with the corresponding problems for an anisotropic elastic body and enables approximate solutions for strongly anisotropic bodies to be derived without difficulty.Keywords
