Abstract
The Marlborough, New Zealand, endemic Cheesemania fastigiata var. stellata is promoted to species rank as C. stellata. C. stellata is most readily distinguished by its grey‐green and narrow lanceolate to oblanceolate leaves that are densely covered in small branched hairs. C. stellata grows in crevices, cracks, and ledges on rock outcrops at the headwaters of the Awatere River and in the Inland Kaikoura Range, southern Marlborough. It is considered to be a habitat‐specific, range‐restricted species, with a naturally sparse distribution. Keywords
