Abstract
3The tissues of a mouse with inherited muscular dystrophy were analyzed for cholesterol and total lipid content. There is a consistent and highly significant increase in cholesterol concentration in the skeletal muscle of dystrophic mice of both sexes over that found in the non-dystrophic animals. Muscle total lipid is elevated in dystrophic female but not in dystrophic male animals. Analyses of plasma, liver, brain, kidney, lung and heart reveal no consistent or significant changes in either cholesterol or total lipid content of these tissues in muscular dystrophy. Keywords
