Abstract
Reserpine pretreatrnent in doses of 2.5 mg/kg or higher produced a supersensitivity to noradrenaline- or isoproterenol-induced activation of rat cardiac phosphorylase. The supersensitivity was not due to blockade of amine uptake since it was additive and differed in magnitude from the supersensitivity produced by tripelennamine. It is suggested that the supersensitivity may be related to reserpine-induced changes in intracellular calcium.
