Abstract
Different strains of D. melanogaster have diverged in an undefined manner, resulting in reduced fertility, enhanced mutation, and male recombination in interstrain hybrids. This “hybrid dysgenesis” is most often found in crosses between long-established laboratory strains and recently collected wild-type strains, specifically when the laboratory strains are used as female parent and the wild-type as male. Keywords
