Abstract
The concept of merging tokamak plasmas is proposed. It has potential applications for solving the problems of pseudo steady-state tokamak operation, refuelling, impurity removal and plasma heating. The currents in the two merging tokamak plasmas are in the same direction so that the columns attract each other. A model for the merging process is given. Keywords
