Abstract
Chromatic dispersion characteristics of fluoride glass singlemode fibres are investigated experimentally and theoretically. It is proposed that the quasi-single-mode operation at zero material dispersion wavelength is effective in extending the low dispersive spectral range. It is shown that total chromatic dispersion is suppressed within ± 1 ps/km/nm in the two spectral ranges of 1.57–1.71 μm and 2.4–3.35 μm.Keywords
