Abstract
Evaluations must respond rapidly to legislative information needs. In certain cases, this implies the development of methods that can provide answers even more quickly than usual. Currently, GAO is testing three such methods: the evaluation synthesis, the use of extant data, and the evaluation planning review. All three methods rely heavily on past research, all place heavy time pressures on evaluators, and all are highly promising in terms of user satisfaction.
