Abstract
Cattell's HSPQ was used to predict achievement on a new sample of high school students (Total N = 469), and estimates of achievement were compared with observed values. Multiple linear regression was performed twice; HSPQ scores alone and HSPQ scores in combination with two ability measures. Results indicate (a) the beta weights derived in the present study were essentially consistent with those used by Cattell, (b) one-fourth of the variance associated with achievement was accounted for by personality factors, and (c) predicted achievement scores using Cattell's equation correlated relatively high with observed scores. Keywords
