Glutathione in Plant Tissues

Abstract
The Na-nitro-prusside micro test for glutathione indicates its presence throughout the plant kingdom except in the algae, where negative results may be due to difficulty in observing the reaction. This substance occurs in the meristematic regions of stems and roots, in the reproductive organs, and in the phloem of Angiosperms. Grains treated with x-rays for a short time show an increased reaction; after a slightly longer exposure the color changes in quality; and after a still longer exposure, it becomes very faint.
