Abstract
Using simple theory, one can show that normalized magnetic parameters—i.e., one primary magnetic measurement divided by a second—are not independent of the concentration of magnetic minerals in an assemblage, except in a few special cases. In the common situation, when the number of minerals in an assemblage is unknown, these parameters can only be used to show a lack of change in domain size or mineralogy. Keywords
