Characteristics of Ultrasonic Dyeing on Poly(ethylene Terephthalate)

Abstract
The influence of ultrasound on the dyeing behavior of PET fibers is investigated using a disperse dye. Ultrasound, when used with a dyebath, enhances the dye uptake and dyeing rate for C.I. Disperse Red 60, which has a highly crystalline structure. For C.I. Disperse Blue 56, which has a poor crystalline structure, however, there is no influence attributed to ultrasound on dye uptake and dyeing rate. The experimental results show that there is no variation in the value of Tg for PET fibers with the dyeing method when ultrasound is used with the dyebath.
