Exciting Squeezed Particles from Condensates Using Bragg Scattering

  • 11 June 2001
Abstract
We investigate the relative particle number squeezing produced in excited states of a weakly interacting condensate at low temperature using stimulated light scattering. We shall show that if a macroscopic population of particles is excited directly out of the k=0 state, the squeezing between particle states occurs primarily in the low momentum, i.e. kk_0 (see Figure 2). We shall briefly discuss possible applications of these squeezed particles.
