Abstract
Do significant differences exist in the development of a positive ethnic identity between Hispanic adoptees who were raised in Hispanic families and those raised in non-Hispanic families? Ethnic identity is a product of the socialization process that is used in reference to individual self-identification. The results of this study suggest that there are differences between the two groups of adoptees; the author delineates potential psychological and ethnic dilemmas that transethnic adoptees may experience as a result of their adoptive experience.
