Abstract
The following letter is the response which I received from Mr. White as a result of my questioning him on how to obtain and express an approximation of the field strength in a conveyorized multimode cavity during the microwave heating of various food items. On Mr. White’s advice I measured the temperature rise in a 25-gram sample of water in a pyrex beaker during the processing of one such food item. Mr. White took the resulting data and computed the field strength. However, as the reader will note, he did quite a bit more than that: namely, he wrote a most amusing tutorial article which should be of practical use to some and entertaining to all. - robert f. schiffmann, Associate Editor]Keywords
