Abstract
The Onsager symmetry relations, used in conjunction with appropriate linear transformations of the hydrodynamic variables, allow one to analyze the distribution of the eigenvalues of the hydrodynamic matrix and to establish symmetry characteristics of its diagonalizing matrices. The implications of these results for the analysis of the spectral distribution of the polarized component of scattered light are pointed out. Keywords
