Abstract
Technology is now available for synthesis of vaccines derived from short amino acid sequences on the surface of a virus or other pathogen. Such small peptide sequences are capable of “recognizing” the entire pathogen and of stimulating effective antibody production. These synthetic vaccines are potentially “medically ideal” agents, whose clinical applicability is now being explored.Keywords
