Resuscitation: basic life support

Abstract
AIMS and intended learning outcomes The aim of this article is to refresh and develop the nurse’s knowledge of basic life support techniques both within and outside the healthcare setting. The European Resuscitation Council (ERC) publishes updated guidelines every two years, based on the most recent research, in order to standardise practice throughout Europe. Every nurse should receive the same training and should put the same manoeuvres into action to treat the patient who suffers a cardiorespiratory arrest.
