Abstract
Significant load management experiments have been conducted by many utilities over the past several years. This paper summarizes significant results from several of the major systems in operation or experiments in direct control of residential water heaters and air conditioners. The paper concentrates on demand reduction, payback characteristics, potential reduction of energy utilization, and customer comfort as reported by the utilities. Keywords
