Abstract
There are a huge number of membrane transporter proteins that transport molecules across the impermeable barrier presented by cellular membranes. In their Perspective, Locher et al. discuss a double tour de force ( Abramson et al., Huang et al.), which provide structural determinations of two bacterial transporters, LacY and GlpT, and insights into how they work. Keywords
