Cross-slip of Orowan loops at incoherent particles

Abstract
A theoretical study of the cross-slip of Orowan loops at incoherent, misfitting particles is described. A critical misfit for which the cross-slipping segment becomes unstable is defined and its dependence on the particle radius calculated; the cross-slip paths are also investigated. The calculations have been carried out for a single Orowan loop and for the case when a screw dislocation approaches the particle with an Orowan loop.
