Abstract
The methods of calculating the energy levels in spheroidal nuclei are discussed. It is shown that the expansion of the perturbation in powers of the deformation parameter, , leads to a very slowly convergent series representation of the matrix elements. An alternative method of expressing the perturbation, due to Moszkowski, which can allow a better calculation, is also discussed.
